May 2025 Newsletter

It’s vacation time, and I did go on a vacation too. But that’s when storytellers get really busy so my summer break became a happy “Work”ation!

The month of May was the creative best for Talescope in many ways, right from exploring stories as a tool to connect with parents of tiny tots to engaging and entertaining senior citizens through multi sensory story experience, Tale’scope had a chance to work with people across age groups this month.

First Cry Intelli – Beyond Reading : Life lessons through storytime

Talescope was asked to do a workshop for the brand First Cry the first time during the pandemic. The association has been there ever since. It was a wonderful morning of stories and answering the viewer’s queries on using stories as a tool to connect and communicate and convey life lessons through stories.

Stories by and for adults – An event hosted by Dr.Eric Miller, World Storytelling Institute.

Telling stories to adults is a different experience altogether. You get to explore emotions deeply and stay with the characters in the story for a longer time. I am happy to have performed the story “ The Love of God – The tale of a Devadasi” to audiences from across the world. To give them a glimpse of India through stories is my privilege. The link to the story is here. Grateful for the amazing feedback. My story starts from 1.35.38 .

It was an honour to be a part of Prachitee School’s 2nd annual day to enthrall the parents, teachers, grandparents and children of the school with simple, hilarious, fun filled thought provoking tales.

Where there is a “ Villu” there is a way – Coimbatore.

A special “Villu Paatu” story session on resilience to the patients and caretakers of the Ganga Spine rehabilitation centre in Coimbatore, was a gentle breeze in the summer heat said the patients. Touching the souls, one story at a time!

Mazhai Megam – A musical storytelling extravaganza – Nana Nani Senior citizens community – Coimbatore.

When children become artists, especially enthralling senior citizens, the joy knows no bounds. Mazhai Megam is a unique sensorial musical production of Tale’scope in Tamil, along with 7 child artists where we bring to life stories around the “Rainy season” from mythology, folklore and legends of India through different oral storytelling traditions of India. Do send us a mail if you wish our team to come and perform for you.( [email protected]).

Mann Vaasanai – Manadhil Mazhai – Coimbatore.

A connection to the roots through stories from our land, Mann Vaasanai is an event that helps people connect to their roots through food, folk songs, and stories. It was a pleasure to take this to the “Sreevatsa Gardens Community” in Coimbatore.

TAP – Creative tools for Dynamic Classrooms – Training program for teachers.

I consider it an honour and privilege to be invited for the second time to a prestigious school in Bengaluru, to train their teachers this time with a unique concept. Monthly storytelling meet up for adults – Conflicts Resolved.

It is amazing to think how different people’s brains wire to the same theme. The storytelling meet up for adults has been something that has been happening month on month  since 2013 in Bengaluru, bringing story lovers of the city together for a wonderful evening of sharing stories through a theme. This time the theme was “ Conflicts Resolved”. What comes to your mind when you read this theme. While many stories came to my mind, two stood out and I had a chance to share the same with the story lovers of Bengaluru. The personal conflict that happens to all of us and a solution through The Bhagavad Gita and the story of a practising doctor in Pune, who does not charge a single penny if the baby he delivers is a girl child. Isn’t that Inspiring? If you are in Bengaluru, do join in for the story meeting this coming month.

See you all in June!
