After Summer Vacations, before school enhancement program for teachers in the month of May, June usually is a quiet month with respect to school programs, but a month that I truly look forward to, for this is the month I get to focus exclusively on my “ Up Skilling” , alongside other public events that I take up. As an artist I always know its important to sharpen my saw. Do you sharpen yours? Read on to find the exciting stuff that June had in store for us.

June 9th : Training to deliver – Master of Ceremony for a Bharatanatyam Arangetram
To train someone in the art of hosting a traditional bharatanatyam arangetram is a privilege and if that is your daughter the joy is manifold. To step outside from being a mom and to let my daughter take the centre stage and shine was a joy unexplainable. The hard work and long hours that went into training her in diction, pronunciation, pacing , voice modulation and body language paid off well to receive compliments from the senior gurus of Bharatanatyam who attended the event. If you wish to get trained for such programs do mail to [email protected]

June 14th : Stories of Unsung Heroes @ The National Gallery of Modern Art
If there is something that I hold very close to my heart , it is being a core team member at the Bangalore Storytelling Society for the last 12 years. Amongst the various wonderful and unique collaborations that we have done with Government and public bodies over the last 13 years, this one was unique and special. To engage the adults and children of Bengaluru to the stories of Unsung heroes. It was a likely experience to take the story of Rani Abbakka to the adults of Bengaluru at the wonderful NGMA center in Bengaluru.

June 19th : A Family day corporate storytelling event in an MNC @ RMZ eco Space, Bellandur
Talescope gets invited to a range of corporate events from training employees in the art of using stories in their workspace, to engage in meaningful conversations to celebrate special days. This one was one such, a unique collaboration to entertain and educate families using the art of storytelling. Its heart warming to see people bringing their entire family to sit and listen to a story together like in old times. Nostalgia creeps in and the mind is taken to a time when things were simple yet meaningful. Grateful for opportunities like these.

June 27th & @ 28th : Getting to the roots – Sharpening the saw.
The stories that come from our land, take deep into our culture and understanding of the “Dharma” that one holds true to self. Every time there is a chance to get deeper, one must not miss. It was a soulful experience to delve deep into Ramayana, learning and getting deeper into its layered meanings and metaphors that enhances one’s deeper understanding of self that manifests in the art that we practice.
June was a beautiful month of reflection, rejuvenation and getting to roots. More in the month of July!
